We Moved, Grew Our Family, and Hit 7m Video Views — My 2024 Year in Review
A yearly look inside the solopreneur journey of a former head of growth.
2024 was the year I stopped chasing dollars and started getting clarity on what I really wanted.
As we wrap up the year, I’ve been reflecting on what that shift has meant—for my business, my personal life, and my growth as a solopreneur.
For those not familiar with my story, I quit my head of growth job in June 2021 to focus on my solopreneur business, Delivering Value.
Each year since, I’ve had a clear theme:
2021 was about building the foundation
2022 was about experimentation to find traction
2023 was about scaling up and building momentum
2024 was all about balancing ambition with clarity
In this post, I’ll explore what that means - what went well, what didn’t, and what’s next for 2025.
This review covers both my personal and professional life. As a solopreneur, they’re deeply intertwined. I hope you gives you a peek behind the curtain of my business - and maybe a few relatable laughs along the way.
I hope you enjoy it.
What Went Well:
We moved 🏡
From 2016 to 2024, we lived in a cozy starter home just outside of Boston. It was a small place with no yard - and once our toddler starting riding his trike around our living room, it felt like we were bursting at the seams. When we found out Lindsay was pregnant with our second child, we knew it was time for a change.
In January, we moved to a beautiful four-bedroom house in the suburbs.
I’m a city guy and wasn’t sure if I would like the suburbs. Turns out, it’s amazing!
I’m spending 4x as much time outside.
I’m calmer and more relaxed.
I daydream while driving around the town.
I’ve picked up woodworking again and playing way more golf.
I didn’t realize how much changing your environment can impact your energy and mindset. It makes me wonder what other changes I should explore next year.
Our family grew 🐣
In May, baby Mia joined our family—and our family of three became four!
We kept hearing that going from one kid to two would be a big adjustment, and those people were right! Here’s what we’re navigating:
Sleep challenges: Mia oscillates between sleeping all night and waking five times a night. It’s unpredictable and exhausting. I’m cranky when I don’t get enough sleep. And it’s been hard to focus on growing my business when I’m running on fumes.
Daycare colds: Both kids are in daycare, which means they’re constantly bringing home illnesses. As the parent with the more flexible schedule, I’ve been handling most sick days, which blows up my calendar and makes me feel frustrated I’m not able to work more.
Parenting two kids has been hard, but it’s also brought more love, fun, and perspective into my life.
It’s also a great reminder about the different seasons of life. This season has been about family and flexibility - not grinding.
Coaching 👨💻
In 2024, my coaching business remained steady. I worked with 25 clients, ranging from Growth Marketers to VPs of Growth.
This year, I focused on refining my approach by identifying three distinct client profiles and customizing my curriculum to their goals:
Aspiring leaders: high-performing individual contributors looking to get promoted to leadership roles - but unsure why they haven’t gotten there already.
New leaders: those navigating transitions and seeking clarity, confidence, and a thought partner.
Seasoned leaders at unicorns: looking to sharpen their skillsets to stay ahead of their company needs, and avoid getting leveled.
This customized approach delivered more value and drove real results: stronger client renewals, glowing feedback—and even a few promotions.
Video 🎥
This year, I leaned into video. It started with a behind-the-scenes docuseries with Navattic’s growth team—one of the most fun projects of my career.
Then I experimented with short-form videos for LinkedIn.
My first videos were cringe, and got very little engagement. But on a whim, I published my “Day in the Life” and it went viral - 2.7M views 😳. Then a few days later, a video about Task Relevant Maturity (my favorite manager framework) and hit 4M views. And another video about freemium crossed 1M!
I’m not some video genius. But I was in the right place when Linkedin launched their video feed.
It was a great reminder to always be experimenting, trying new things, and staying consistent. Video will be a big part of my 2025 plan.
Going pro with the podcast 🎙️
The show just crossed 48 episodes, 13,000 plays, and saw steady growth in download velocity and listener engagement.
This didn’t happen by accident. I’ve been working hard to improve the show.
Better quality recording gear
Prepping guests more thoroughly.
Reading books on asking great questions.
A/B testing titles and improving thumbnails.
Sharing more clips on social.
The small improvements starting compounding - and it was a great reminder that it’s usually not 1 thing that unlocks growth. It’s the combination of 100 little things. I’ll continue to iterate on the show next year to see how far we can take it.
Clarity 👌
With all the changes in my personal life, I found myself feeling a bit lost professionally this year. Things were going okay, but I lacked a clear overarching direction or purpose. With a new baby, this wasn’t the season for grinding. So I turned to books for guidance—squeezing in chapters between bottles and diaper changes.
Three books were game-changers for me this year:
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks
The Great Work of Your Life by Stephen Cope
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker
The Big Leap focuses on discovering your Zone of Genius—where your unique talents and passions align to create exceptional value. This book helped me pinpoint where I thrive: coaching heads of growth and recording the podcast. These are the areas where I feel most “in flow.”
The Great Work of Your Life is about overcoming doubt and distractions to find and commit to your purpose. It built on the lessons of The Big Leap and made me wonder: “What would my life look like if I put all my energy into growing my coaching business and podcast—and eliminated distractions?”
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind dives into the mindset and tools needed for success. One chapter on achievement hit me hard. It outlined two challenges many people face:
Not knowing exactly what you want.
Not fully committing to achieving it.
These three books gave me clarity on where I want to spend my time and what success looks like moving forward.
What Didn’t Go Well
I made less money 💸
I had an amazing year full of personal milestones. But that impacted my professional success. Revenue dropped 36% compared to 2023 🙁.
The business has 3 main income streams: coaching, advising, and media partnerships. Here’s the revenue break-down by service:
One-on-one coaching: 43%
Product-led growth advising: 19%
Media partnerships and course sales: 38%
There were two big reasons I made less money this year.
I worked less. As a solopreneur, I have flexibility to design my schedule around my life. But if I don’t work, I don’t get paid. And between moving and parental leave - I worked 16.6% less days than 2023.
I lost two big advising opportunities. I had 2 signed contracts that fell through at the last minute. One of the largest players in the PLG space had a restructuring days before our scheduled kickoff. And another smaller client wasn’t respecting my boundaries - and I decided to walk away.
As someone who spends all-day helping other people and companies grow, having my own business contract didn’t feel great. Logically, I know it makes sense - my personal life was expanding in big ways this year. But it’s still something I’ve had to remind myself of. With life settling down next year, I’m confident the see-saw will tilt back the other way.
My energy dipped 📉
I’ve always been “high-horsepower.” I’ve never needed help motivating myself to take action. If anything, I’ve needed help slowing down at times. But that shifted a little this year. I found myself feeling tired and burned out.
I suspect this is because of a mix of getting less sleep, not exercising as much, and making less money.
Focus for 2025: Going on Offense
The three books I mentioned above (and my reflections from this past year) have made things crystal clear for 2025. I want to spend more of my time in my zone of genius - and I’d like to get in the best shape of my adult life.
Here’s what I’m prioritizing.
Scaling my coaching practice 📈
I want to spend more of my time coaching in 2024 - and I want to impact more members of the PLG community.
I’m thinking about 2 things:
Accepting more 1:1 clients next year. Now that my personal life has slowed down and my curriculum has never been more polished, I’m ready to ramp back up at work.
Exploring a 1:many coaching program for newly promoted growth leaders running small teams (2-6 people) - who aren’t ready to work with me 1:1, or just prefer a group setting.
Here's what I'm picturing:
✔ Access to my coaching curriculum (either live cohort or self-paced).
✔ Library of resources and templates.
✔ Private group of peers to ask questions and share challenges.
✔ Monthly live Q&A sessions, workshops, and member hot-seats.

Growing the podcast 📺
I’m also going All-IN on the podcast in 2025.
I love making the show, and I want to see how far I can grow it. My goal is to scale it into one of SaaS’s largest “work lifestyle” shows - and a large part of my revenue.
Here’s the plan:
Going video-first
Booking bigger name guests
Recording in studio space (instead of remote)
Investing in distribution on YouTube and other platforms.

I’m also going to start creating weekly long-form videos for YouTube, sharing a mix of personal stories, actionable tips and frameworks, common challenges, etc.
Investing in a video first podcast + educational content on YouTube (which has built-in discoverability) should be a winning combination.

Get in shape 💪
I spent much of this year putting my family first. In 2025, I’m hoping to prioritize my health a little more. I’ll turn 40 in December of 2025, and I’d like to be in the best shape of my life when I do.
My plan: hire a health coach, lose 10 pounds, and optimize my energy so I can be the best version of myself inside and out.
2024 was about finding balance and clarity, but I’m sick of playing small. 2025 will be about going on offense to make a bigger dent on the universe.
