Hey, I’m Andrew Capland. Welcome to the Delivering Value newsletter.
Twice a month, I explore the hardest parts of working in growth, and share actionable tips to help you navigate them.
I chat with folks who lead cross-functional growth teams. And I ask them about the three craziest moments in their careers (the times when they suffered from imposter syndrome, received brutal feedback, and doubted their abilities) and learn what they would do differently if they could go back in time.
I’m not interested in hearing their most successful growth stories, strategies, or playbooks (there’s enough of those already).
I want to hear about the times they’ve struggled and the mistakes they wish they could undo.
Working in growth is hard (and sometimes lonely). I want to normalize encountering adversity and making mistakes - for folks at all different levels of their careers.
Who is Andrew? And what is Delivering Value?
In case we've never crossed paths - here's a bit more about my journey.
👨💻 I've spent the last 15 years in B2B SaaS.
⚙️ First 200 employees at HubSpot - when it was still (kinda) a startup.
👷♂️ Started and scaled the growth team at Wistia - fell in love with freemium.
📱 Led growth at Postscript - and learned how fun the Shopify ecosystem is.
I find the process of growing a company is incredibly fulfilling. From learning about the levers and channels, understanding the customers and their jobs-to-be-done, delivering value in creative ways, and removing friction points along the journey.
But my real passion is helping people around me get better. I get incredible fulfillment teaching systems and frameworks to help others succeed in growth.
So in June 2021, I decided to make a big change. I left my full-time job as head of growth to build my own solopreneur business - Delivering Value.
Now I spend my days coaching heads of growth, advising product-led SaaS teams, and making content (like this newsletter) for the growth community.
I’ve basically created my dream job.
If you’re in a new growth role and struggling with something specific, let me know. I’ll (anonymously) explore your challenges and share actionable solutions.
In addition to sharing here, I post bite-sized tips regularly on LinkedIn

Over the past 27 months, I've coached 41 heads of growth. Here's what I've realized...
The people you think have it all figured out and have all the answers? Their careers haven't been linear. They've made a million mistakes along the way.
Your SaaS heros struggle with imposter syndrome and self-doubt, just like you. And they've received brutal performance feedback too.
But, they find a way to keep going.
I've learned that beyond any growth tactic, strategy, or framework - their mindset is ultimately why they succeed.
The world's best heads of growth keep going in the face of adversity and self-doubt. They embrace challenges and seek out feedback - no matter how painful.
Leading cross functional growth teams is hard. That's why the roles turn over so often.
My content is designed to surface these challenges - and investigate how some people are able to push through adversity, while the rest of us get stuck.
