Lessons from a former 2x head of growth turned solopreneur (my story)
My personal story and my journey into growth. The two worst performance reviews I've ever had, the time I had a panic attack mid-presentation, and what I'd do different if I could start all over.
MadKudu. SaaS teams spend tons of time trying to identify accounts that are likely to purchase or upgrade based on their behavioral signals.
MadKudu’s Revenue Automation Intelligence platform helps revenue teams cut through the noise by predicting and prioritizing the right revenue generating actions.
Navattic. The old PLG playbook is already outdated. We're seeing forward-thinking SaaS businesses adopt interactive product demos as a core part of the modern product-led approach.
Navattic's no-code editor helps product-led SaaS companies create and build interactive product demos to increase website conversions and activate free trials.
After working on/ around SaaS growth teams for the past 7 years, it's become pretty clear to me - nobody has it "all figured out.”.
We're all constantly learning, making mistakes, and dealing with difficult situations. There's nothing easy about leading cross-functional growth teams.
Running tests isn't easy.
Getting resources isn't easy.
Driving towards results isn't easy.
Creating a culture of experimentation isn't easy.
Staying aligned with cross-functional stakeholders isn't easy.
Drawing lines between growth, marketing, and product teams isn't easy.
And making sure everyone knows what growth is, what you're working on, and why (while still doing the work and sharing learnings) - definitely isn't easy.
My personal journey hasn't been easy either. It's full of self-doubt and times when I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. But I found ways to keep going. Not because it got easier. But because I fell in love with the work and I couldn't picture doing anything else! Once I learned about the world of product-led growth, there was nothing I'd rather do.
In this first episode of the show, I share my personal story:
My transition from acquisition marketer → growth team lead → director of growth → head of growth.
How I worked through challenges and traumatic events.
My biggest mistakes & worst performance feedback.
The hardest part about being a head of growth.
The mindset to overcome adversity.
Dealing with stress and failure.
And, what I'd do differently if I could start all over.
